Graduations


Well, the end of the school year is wrapping up.  We are so excited about Casey's graduation!  I couldn't be more proud.  The days are filled with making lists of things to get done before family arrives and the nights are filled with helping Case finish up.  The end of May will bring us to an end of two big chapters in our lives.  Casey finishing school and CJ finishing Pre-K. 

CJ's school does not do a graduation ceremony, but we are certainly cognizant of the fact that our little guy is moving on.  We still remember his first day at the school and cannot believe that three years have gone by since then.  Ceirnan is getting really excited to join the school in the Fall and follow in her brother's footsteps.

As you can see from the photo, these two are two peas in a pod.  I know that Ceirnan is going to miss her brother so much next year when he's at school all day.

Hello from Philly

Hello and Happy Holidays from the City of Brotherly Love! Its almost New Year's resolution time and one of mine is to maintain a blog for all our of friends and family who don't get to see our little guy on a daily basis (and for those of you that do too). CJ is ready for Christmas- although Santa is not his favorite as you can see. I'm not sure who is worse at peeking at packages though, CJ or Casey. We were too excited to wait so we've had a Christmas tree up since the weekend after Thanksgiving. We kept the unbreakable ornaments on the lower part of the tree, which has been good since he likes to take them off and throw them to his daddy. He's so smart and observant. I'm just amazed by him. He loves to learn and seems (to me) to be very mechanically minded since he can unscrew or take apart anything you put in front of him. Well, Santa officially visited the McGinnis household and rewarded CJ for being such a great kid in a tough year. CJ was delighted by his new kitchen and loved his Tonka dump truck. He has spent hours playing cars on his new full service car garage and ramp. He can already kick his new soccer ball like a champ! Overall, we'd say he had a wonderful Christmas. He wasn't much interested in Mama's spa present, but Daddy's new drum is really exciting. CJ made sure Santa had cookies and then strangely insisted we put them on a plate in the tree to make sure Santa didn't miss them. The picture shows CJ with his beloved sprinkles making the cookies Christmasy. He even managed to sing a rousing Jingle Bells for Mama as he worked. Right now we're at the hotel in Philly ready to get on the plane in the morning and fly to Kansas City. Getting Ready for Baby

What a difference getting ready for a second baby is compared to the first. With CJ, we had things bought, washed, and put away 3-4 months before he was set to arrive. We had the nursery together and way too many things we would find out we really didn't need. This time around we're in week 37 and we just realized that I really could deliver any day now so we probably should at least pull out the car seat. We're not going with a crib as we tend to be co-sleepers plus there is not a lot of room in our bedroom. We got out the pack-n-play and added the bassinet function. It might get more use than with CJ who always slept with us just due to the fact that I expect CJ will want to climb into the bed too (at least at first). We have his old crib mattress ready to lay down on our floor in a ploy to keep him involved in a way that avoids 4 bodies in the bed.
