Hello from Philly

Hello and Happy Holidays from the City of Brotherly Love!

Its almost New Year's resolution time and one of mine is to maintain a blog for all our of friends and family who don't get to see our little guy on a daily basis (and for those of you that do too).

CJ is ready for Christmas- although Santa is not his favorite as you can see. I'm not sure who is worse at peeking at packages though, CJ or Casey. We were too excited to wait so we've had a Christmas tree up since the weekend after Thanksgiving. We kept the unbreakable ornaments on the lower part of the tree, which has been good since he likes to take them off and throw them to his daddy.

He's so smart and observant. I'm just amazed by him. He loves to learn and seems (to me) to be very mechanically minded since he can unscrew or take apart anything you put in front of him. He has an infectious grin and a laugh that reminds you what living is about. He likes to talk all time and he LOVES to dance. He's just gotten so big. I don't know how the time has passed so quickly.

We're heading to Kansas City in a few days to see the family so I'll be sure to post more after Santa arrives if not sooner.

Courtney sure has a way of making little CJ sound so Angelic. The truth is - he's a very normal toddler, getting into and touching just about everything he could get his little hands on. Cordless phones and remote controls are two of his personal favorites. But the list goes on. Inspite of his inquisitive nature, he is a pleasant little boy to have around. He's always smiling and loves to laugh. Another thing his mother forgot to mention is that this tiny tot loves to eat. He can eat as much as two grown men. God knows where he puts it all. Note to CJ's Missouri based family: you'll want to clear the room when it's time for the diaper changes. The next time any of you are in the Philly area, don't forget to stop to see CJ's Godfather and fill-in Grandma.

It was so nice to see Courtney, Casey and above all CJ. He is adorable. He had so much fun and of course was adored by all.

Maybe the highlight of Christmas day was that one big guy wearing the flap one-piece red pj's!!!

Hope you had a good trip back.

Halloween Update

What a great Halloween! CJ had a wonderful time trick or treating and visiting with Aunt Cece and Uncle Nick. The pictures above show the three day fun. Thursday we went to the pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins and get some apples. CJ had a great time playing on all the fun wooden equipment. Trick or treating was definitely quiet here in Newark. As you can see from the photo CJ was a fireman and Daddy was a fire truck. It was quite funny. There were not that many kids trick-or-treating around our neighborhood. It really made me sad to see such an awesome community event begin to disappear. Maybe it's just where we are though. Anyway, CJ still had fun and got lots of candy because people were trying hard to give it away. He walked over to Uncle Sami and Aunt Vicky's house and received extra special treats that he was very proud of and excited to eat. The evening was gloomy and wet, which was just spooky enough to be fun. The rest of the weekend went great too. CJ...
Well, Santa officially visited the McGinnis household and rewarded CJ for being such a great kid in a tough year. CJ was delighted by his new kitchen and loved his Tonka dump truck. He has spent hours playing cars on his new full service car garage and ramp. He can already kick his new soccer ball like a champ! Overall, we'd say he had a wonderful Christmas. He wasn't much interested in Mama's spa present, but Daddy's new drum is really exciting. CJ made sure Santa had cookies and then strangely insisted we put them on a plate in the tree to make sure Santa didn't miss them. The picture shows CJ with his beloved sprinkles making the cookies Christmasy. He even managed to sing a rousing Jingle Bells for Mama as he worked. Right now we're at the hotel in Philly ready to get on the plane in the morning and fly to Kansas City. CJ is excited about the trip and can't wait to see his Pop Pop, Nana, Grandma, and all his aunts and uncles. Mama and Daddy are ready fo...
