Big Kids

Where did my babies go?  It's so hard to believe how big they are and how much they have grown in the last year.  Ceirnan is sprouting like a weed and towers over most her own age.  CJ doesn't have the height, but he is about the most mature young man I've ever met.  They are both so bright and excited to learn.  It makes me so happy seeing them together.  Typically, they share, they are polite to each other and they never make it through the day without at least two or three hugs and kisses for each other.  It makes my heart melt to see how much they truly enjoy spending time together.  Do not get me wrong- Ceirnan is too bossy for CJ and one of CJ's favorite phrases (which we have to remind him is not appropriate as he is not the parent) is "Ceirnan, do you need naughty chair time?"  Even still, they do not hold grudges and always work through things within a matter of minutes.  I just feel so lucky to be their mother.

Hello from Philly

Hello and Happy Holidays from the City of Brotherly Love! Its almost New Year's resolution time and one of mine is to maintain a blog for all our of friends and family who don't get to see our little guy on a daily basis (and for those of you that do too). CJ is ready for Christmas- although Santa is not his favorite as you can see. I'm not sure who is worse at peeking at packages though, CJ or Casey. We were too excited to wait so we've had a Christmas tree up since the weekend after Thanksgiving. We kept the unbreakable ornaments on the lower part of the tree, which has been good since he likes to take them off and throw them to his daddy. He's so smart and observant. I'm just amazed by him. He loves to learn and seems (to me) to be very mechanically minded since he can unscrew or take apart anything you put in front of him. He has an infectious grin and a laugh that reminds you what living is about. He likes to talk all time and he LOVES to dance. He's ju...

Ceirnan Update and Other

Here is a picture of the kids at the zoo on Saturday. We had beautiful weather in the 70s. CJ and Ceirnan had a great time- although I wish I had taken this picture when we got there instead of as we started to leave. CJ liked the monkey's the best this trip and we all enjoyed a great picnic lunch. Here is the update on Ceirnan's hand. I'm not sure how much everyone actually knows so I'm kind of summarizing it a bit. Ceirnan was born with a few issues on her right arm and hand. The doctors assume that she got her arm stuck above her head and couldn't get it out of that position. It created some pressure wounds that have mostly healed up and it also caused a radial dislocation. At this point, there is no way to fix the radial dislocation, but it doesn't cause her any pain and she's lucky enough to have full range of motion. It also limited or destroyed (not sure yet) the growth of the nerve and muscle on the top of her arm. Therefore , she can't...
Well, Santa officially visited the McGinnis household and rewarded CJ for being such a great kid in a tough year. CJ was delighted by his new kitchen and loved his Tonka dump truck. He has spent hours playing cars on his new full service car garage and ramp. He can already kick his new soccer ball like a champ! Overall, we'd say he had a wonderful Christmas. He wasn't much interested in Mama's spa present, but Daddy's new drum is really exciting. CJ made sure Santa had cookies and then strangely insisted we put them on a plate in the tree to make sure Santa didn't miss them. The picture shows CJ with his beloved sprinkles making the cookies Christmasy. He even managed to sing a rousing Jingle Bells for Mama as he worked. Right now we're at the hotel in Philly ready to get on the plane in the morning and fly to Kansas City. CJ is excited about the trip and can't wait to see his Pop Pop, Nana, Grandma, and all his aunts and uncles. Mama and Daddy are ready fo...
