Global Baby

He's getting so big!  It's hard to believe that Cooper is 2 1/2 months old.  We've been home for 2 whole months and he is just growing like a weed.  The first month he gained just over a pound and was still very small.  This last month he gained over 2 pounds.  He looks huge to us, although, he's still only in the 20th percentile for his age.

What's more noticeable than his size is how social he is becoming.  While he is still a Mama's boy, he is delighted to be a little brother and grins from ear-to-ear at the sight of his brother and sister.  His other favorite activity is hanging onto Daddy's beard.  It's funny, but when he cries it sounds just like he's saying Mama.

Speaking of being social, we've discovered two of Cooper's favorite things- music and reading.  He bounces along and gets so excited when Ceirnan sings to him or plays the kiddie CD player.  CJ found Cooper's favorite book, Global Babies.  Cooper coos to the babies in the book and waves his arms.  He'll sit through it several time and it really soothes him when he gets upset.

Cooper is doing a great job holding up his head and has a ton of strength in his legs. When he's mad he'll stand straight up on our laps and howl.  He's rolling onto his side when on the ground and will spin himself in a circle on his play mat during tummy time.

We can tell that despite being the smallest, this kid will have no problem expressing his opinion.  He cries a bit more than the other two did especially when Mama's not around.  Of course, that's because he clearly thinks all pacifiers are pointless and will begrudgingly use one for a few minutes at a time if he is given one.  Within about three minutes, he spits it out with a look that clearly let's you know the paci isn't going to cut it with him.

Cooper has been such a blessing to our family.  It's hard to believe he hasn't always been with us.  Of course, the transition from 2 to 3 has been a bit challenging, but we wouldn't change it for the world.

Hello from Philly

Hello and Happy Holidays from the City of Brotherly Love! Its almost New Year's resolution time and one of mine is to maintain a blog for all our of friends and family who don't get to see our little guy on a daily basis (and for those of you that do too). CJ is ready for Christmas- although Santa is not his favorite as you can see. I'm not sure who is worse at peeking at packages though, CJ or Casey. We were too excited to wait so we've had a Christmas tree up since the weekend after Thanksgiving. We kept the unbreakable ornaments on the lower part of the tree, which has been good since he likes to take them off and throw them to his daddy. He's so smart and observant. I'm just amazed by him. He loves to learn and seems (to me) to be very mechanically minded since he can unscrew or take apart anything you put in front of him. He has an infectious grin and a laugh that reminds you what living is about. He likes to talk all time and he LOVES to dance. He's ju...

Philly Boy

Here is our Philly boy the night we took him to his concert. He was telling us all about the people walking by as we ate a quick snack at a local pub. He was being a bit bossy insistant that we soak up the sounds and people as quickly as he did. He was not impressed with our apathy and definitely reminded Mama to look around and enjoy the atmosphere. While I am certain he will enjoy the backyard, I think he too will receive quite a culture shock when we arrive in good old Newark later this month. Currently he is running through the house shouting box as the continue to pile up. It is amazing how much we have just donated though. We're ruthless and I think he is concerned that his toys will go out as he has been hiding a toy here and there as we pack. He just made a good friend across the street and I'm sure he'll miss hanging out with her, but I think he already met a new little girl whose father works at the University. Last night we went to Old City to grab a bite...

Update

No major news to update. We're all on pins and needles waiting for the baby to arrive. At this point, it looks like we will definitely have a little one sometime next week if not earlier. Today is my last day of work. I'm definitely ready as I am starting to need more rest and am feeling some major shifting in the baby. Last night Pop Pop arrived though so it definitely brought some excitement to the house. CJ was showered with gifts from Aunt Cherie and Aunt CeCe, which he has been certain to remind us are the gifts for big brothers! He is getting excited at the thought that the baby is coming home soon. Of course, he's even more excited that Pop Pop is here for a long time and that his Nana and Grandma will be out soon too. We will try to keep you all updated when things start progressing. Just wish us luck!
