Earth Day

We had a great time celebrating Earth Day yesterday. Casey and the kids picked me up from work and we went to the park to have a picnic. Then the kids got a chance to play a bit. It was nice to have some family time as we are always so rushed between work and Casey heading to school.

CJ was quite intrigued by all the big kids showing up for baseball and soccer practice. He can't wait to join a team. He is always asking us to coach while he kicks the soccer ball or shoots baskets with his basketball. He has also become an avid runner and has to have a race from the stop sign and back every time we walk out the door. He also spent a fair amount of time watching Ninja Warrior so he loves obstacle courses. He uses the playground equipment to create them and then asks us to time him. It's so fun to see him enjoying the sunshine and nature so much.

Ceirnan really enjoyed her first time at the park. She loved the swing and giggled every time it went back and forth. The slide didn't seem to impress her too much. It's funny because CJ has always loved slides even from when he was that small, but he never liked the swing. Still doesn't. Ceirnan just seems to like being out when the wind is blowing and the birds are singing. She listens intently and smiles every time the wind kisses her skin.

It was a great Earth Day. We wish we could hit the Earth Day celebration in Columbia this weekend. It was always such a great time, but we will get a chance to be outside. UD's AG Day is on Saturday. We're looking forward to seeing the animals, hearing some bluegrass, and eating UD's own ice cream.

Our boys hated the swings when they were little. Now they are ok on them, in fact it was a little startling when one day they hopped on and started swinging. Riley thinks it's great. It's fun seeing her be her own little person. And it's soooooo great to get out in the spring air! Bring on the Clariton! ;)

Hello from Philly

Hello and Happy Holidays from the City of Brotherly Love! Its almost New Year's resolution time and one of mine is to maintain a blog for all our of friends and family who don't get to see our little guy on a daily basis (and for those of you that do too). CJ is ready for Christmas- although Santa is not his favorite as you can see. I'm not sure who is worse at peeking at packages though, CJ or Casey. We were too excited to wait so we've had a Christmas tree up since the weekend after Thanksgiving. We kept the unbreakable ornaments on the lower part of the tree, which has been good since he likes to take them off and throw them to his daddy. He's so smart and observant. I'm just amazed by him. He loves to learn and seems (to me) to be very mechanically minded since he can unscrew or take apart anything you put in front of him. He has an infectious grin and a laugh that reminds you what living is about. He likes to talk all time and he LOVES to dance. He's ju...

Philly Boy

Here is our Philly boy the night we took him to his concert. He was telling us all about the people walking by as we ate a quick snack at a local pub. He was being a bit bossy insistant that we soak up the sounds and people as quickly as he did. He was not impressed with our apathy and definitely reminded Mama to look around and enjoy the atmosphere. While I am certain he will enjoy the backyard, I think he too will receive quite a culture shock when we arrive in good old Newark later this month. Currently he is running through the house shouting box as the continue to pile up. It is amazing how much we have just donated though. We're ruthless and I think he is concerned that his toys will go out as he has been hiding a toy here and there as we pack. He just made a good friend across the street and I'm sure he'll miss hanging out with her, but I think he already met a new little girl whose father works at the University. Last night we went to Old City to grab a bite...

Update

No major news to update. We're all on pins and needles waiting for the baby to arrive. At this point, it looks like we will definitely have a little one sometime next week if not earlier. Today is my last day of work. I'm definitely ready as I am starting to need more rest and am feeling some major shifting in the baby. Last night Pop Pop arrived though so it definitely brought some excitement to the house. CJ was showered with gifts from Aunt Cherie and Aunt CeCe, which he has been certain to remind us are the gifts for big brothers! He is getting excited at the thought that the baby is coming home soon. Of course, he's even more excited that Pop Pop is here for a long time and that his Nana and Grandma will be out soon too. We will try to keep you all updated when things start progressing. Just wish us luck!
