McGinnis Family Fun

CJ and I have been having a great time at home when Daddy goes to school or goes out. We play pretend camping or dress-up or just spend time reading. Ceirnan likes to join in on the fun too. One of CJ's favorites is the "CJ and Ceirnan Show". CJ dances and Ceirnan bounces and Mama sings. He is just so cute.

CJ has grown like crazy in the last month. He's pants all became highwaters so we had to pick him up some new ones this weekend when we were out. His problem is he's really too skinny for 3Ts, but he needs the length. I'll probably be doing some tailoring this week. He has lost that last little bit of "toddlerhood" and has definitely moved into being a true kid.

Ceirnan is doing great. She is growing like a weed. We received some disappointing news this week at the elbow specialist. He said her radial dislocation cannot be fixed. Apparently, it's something that is more common than we knew and that she will just live with it. When she becomes an adult if it is painful, they can do surgery. We were more disappointed by the fact that we have wasted time working on her hand while we waited for this word from the elbow doctor.

We went down to the beach this weekend. (Beach is in Delaware. Shore is in Jersey. I don't know why I make this distinction in word choice, but I do.) It was a beautiful day and a beautiful ride. The beach was a bit cool, but CJ got to dig for awhile and Ceirnan got to see the ocean for the first time. It was a nice trip.

The pics above were just some I took with my phone. I'll send out some more soon. The one of CJ is especially funny for us because it reminds us of our friend Fuller.

I've been able to find toddler pants that have elastic strips in the waistband that you can cinch in or let out and hold in place with a button. It comes in handy for us because Lohgan has the same issue of long legs and skinny waist.

Sorry about the disappointing news. Have you looked into getting a second opinion? It's disheartening to be told there's nothing you can do.

Much Love!

Hello from Philly

Hello and Happy Holidays from the City of Brotherly Love! Its almost New Year's resolution time and one of mine is to maintain a blog for all our of friends and family who don't get to see our little guy on a daily basis (and for those of you that do too). CJ is ready for Christmas- although Santa is not his favorite as you can see. I'm not sure who is worse at peeking at packages though, CJ or Casey. We were too excited to wait so we've had a Christmas tree up since the weekend after Thanksgiving. We kept the unbreakable ornaments on the lower part of the tree, which has been good since he likes to take them off and throw them to his daddy. He's so smart and observant. I'm just amazed by him. He loves to learn and seems (to me) to be very mechanically minded since he can unscrew or take apart anything you put in front of him. He has an infectious grin and a laugh that reminds you what living is about. He likes to talk all time and he LOVES to dance. He's ju...

Philly Boy

Here is our Philly boy the night we took him to his concert. He was telling us all about the people walking by as we ate a quick snack at a local pub. He was being a bit bossy insistant that we soak up the sounds and people as quickly as he did. He was not impressed with our apathy and definitely reminded Mama to look around and enjoy the atmosphere. While I am certain he will enjoy the backyard, I think he too will receive quite a culture shock when we arrive in good old Newark later this month. Currently he is running through the house shouting box as the continue to pile up. It is amazing how much we have just donated though. We're ruthless and I think he is concerned that his toys will go out as he has been hiding a toy here and there as we pack. He just made a good friend across the street and I'm sure he'll miss hanging out with her, but I think he already met a new little girl whose father works at the University. Last night we went to Old City to grab a bite...

Update

No major news to update. We're all on pins and needles waiting for the baby to arrive. At this point, it looks like we will definitely have a little one sometime next week if not earlier. Today is my last day of work. I'm definitely ready as I am starting to need more rest and am feeling some major shifting in the baby. Last night Pop Pop arrived though so it definitely brought some excitement to the house. CJ was showered with gifts from Aunt Cherie and Aunt CeCe, which he has been certain to remind us are the gifts for big brothers! He is getting excited at the thought that the baby is coming home soon. Of course, he's even more excited that Pop Pop is here for a long time and that his Nana and Grandma will be out soon too. We will try to keep you all updated when things start progressing. Just wish us luck!
